About Us · The Story of Buglas

How Buglas Began

A personal story rooted in family, forest and a quieter way of welcoming travellers to Ecuador’s Amazon foothills.

Our Story

From Home to Birding Lodge

Buglas began as a family home, close to the forest and the birds that have long been part of life in Limón Indanza. During the pandemic, our family decided to move here and make this place our everyday home.

Over time, we adapted the house to welcome visitors and created spaces that would help people enjoy the forest without losing the quiet, personal character of Buglas. What grew was a small birding lodge shaped by family, nature and the joy of sharing this place.

Our Journey

A Place That Grew Naturally

Not a large resort built overnight, but a home gradually opened to nature lovers and birdwatchers.

Our family made the forest near Limón Indanza our home.

A Home Adapted

We improved the house and added welcoming spaces for visitors.

Our Home

Why This Place Matters

Our home is surrounded by tropical humid forest in the eastern Andean foothills. Here, the changing light, the sounds of birds and the details of the forest shape our days.

Buglas includes approximately seven hectares of private reserve at around 1,200 metres above sea level. We want guests to discover its natural beauty while helping us care for the habitat that makes these experiences possible.

Our Family

Meet Your Hosts

At Buglas, hospitality is personal. Fabricio and Grace are part of the family story behind the lodge, and we enjoy sharing what we know about our home, the surrounding forest and the birds that live here.

We believe a stay is more meaningful when it feels genuine: a friendly welcome, time to listen and the freedom to discover nature at your own pace.

“For us, Buglas is more than a place to stay. It is our home and a forest we care deeply about.”

Our Philosophy

The Way We Welcome You

We keep Buglas small and close to nature, combining warm hospitality with the patience and care that responsible birding requires.

Personal Hospitality

A family-run place where guests are welcomed as people, not room numbers.

Thoughtful Birding

Quiet observation and photography that respect wild birds and their natural behaviour.

Caring for the Forest

Keeping the forest and its wildlife at the heart of every decision we make.
